Placment Fee for "Second Chance" Horses
When we place one of our "Second-Chance" equines in their new homes, we ask for a small placement fee for a number of reasons:
One of the main reasons we do not simply "give away" our horses for free is to prevent unscrupulous people from "adopting" one of our horses only to get "something for nothing" and then run them back thru the auction to make a quick couple of dollars. And Yes, as awful as that may seem, it DOES happen.
Making sure these horses end up with a "Second Chance at Life" in a good home is our top priority. Our placement fee is non-refundable, and we only ask a minimum of $125 for a companion animal. Healthy riding horses will have a higher fee as they are worth (and could be resold for) more. This will vary per horse based on individual situation/expenses for that horse, what the horse is actually worth, and what we had to pay to purchase the horse.
Our placement fee allows us to try to recover (at least part of) our expenses in giving the horse it's second chance. (Expenses include: purchasing from sale-barn/owner, vet bills, feed, vaccinations, rehabilitation, etc.) As anyone who is familiar with horses knows, we spend more money trying to save these horses and send them to good homes than we could ever hope to recover. Your help with funds allows us to be able to save even more horses!
Thank You!
